Alexandra Ladd is an experienced urban planner and affordable housing expert with a master’s degree from the University of New Mexico’s Community and Regional Planning program. Alexandra has dedicated her career to advancing inclusive, community-focused planning and housing solutions. She was as an affordable housing planner with the City of Santa Fe, wrote strategic housing plans for several communities around New Mexico, served as the City’s Director of Affordable Housing, and is currently the Director for the County of Santa Fe’s Growth Management Department.
Throughout her tenure with the City of Santa Fe, Alexandra played a pivotal role in implementing progressive land use and zoning initiatives, including the LINC overlay zone along the St. Michael’s corridor, the Midtown Master Plan, and Phase 3 of the Tierra Contenta development. Her work reflects a strong commitment to community engagement and equitable growth.
She cultivated partnerships with nonprofit service providers and housing developers to ensure that City-supported affordable housing programs were not only effective but also accessible to those who needed them most. Under her leadership, local and federal resources were deployed to improve emergency shelters, offer rental and utility assistance, support homeownership through downpayment programs, build affordably priced homes, and provide essential repair and refinancing services to existing homeowners.
Alexandra’s service on both the City and County of Santa Fe’s senior leadership teams reflects her deep understanding of the need to find innovative, cross-sector solutions to complex governance and policy challenges. She is looking forward to the next set of challenges related to updating the County’s Sustainable Land Development Code to ensure that housing options in Santa Fe County are accessible for all of its residents.
