Jamie Cassutt is currently serving in her second term as a Santa Fe City Councilor, representing District 4. First elected in 2019, Jamie has focused on policies and issues that greatly impact the everyday quality of life of Santa Feans, including housing, childcare, economic opportunities, and creating a welcoming city for children and families. Some of the policies she has sponsored includes legislation that reduced zoning barriers for childcare businesses, established the pilot program for the micro communities, and put a question on the ballot for the 2023 municipal election that created the high-end homes excise tax to create a dedicated revenue stream for the Affordable Housing Trust Fund. She also championed an almost $1 million investment in a childcare workforce development pilot program at the Santa Fe Community College from the City’s American Rescue Plan Act dollars.
Jamie was raised in Santa Fe and is a graduate of Santa Fe High School. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon and a Master’s in Public Health from UCLA.
Jamie’s motivation to run for office came from her experience in the public health field. Throughout her career, she noticed how policies, systems, and environments were barriers to individuals achieving physical, emotional, and financial health and preventing the overall wellbeing of an entire community. She pursued a career in policy so she could better address the root causes of these issues and serve the city she loves so much.
Jamie currently chairs the Quality of Life Committee and the Economic Development Advisory Committee and serves on the Finance Committee and Buckman Direct Diversion Board.
Outside of work, Jamie enjoys spending time with her partner Marco and their three children and taking full advantage of everything Santa Fe has to offer.
