Moises A. Gonzalez was born to Cuban immigrants in San Antonio, Texas, in 1963.  He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.    He moved to Albuquerque, NM, in 1992 where he received a teaching degree with certifications in Spanish, English, Bilingual Education, and ESL.  After seven years as a teacher, he returned to school and received a Moving Image Arts degree from the College of Santa Fe.  In 2003, he started a one-horse production company called MarAbí Productions, Inc.  Running for City Council in 2003 convinced him that housing our people is the most important work.
