Kaleena is a writer, editor, and marketing professional with more than ten years of experience in strategic communications. She is a talented storyteller, having received both a BA and MFA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University and Roosevelt University, as well as a Grant Writing Certification from DePaul University.

Kaleena currently serves as the Associate Director of Communications with Sol Housing, a nonprofit affordable housing developer, where she manages all aspects of public relations, marketing, communications, and community outreach. In service of Sol Housing's mission to create exceptional housing that promotes household stability and vibrant communities, her work centers around the development and implementation of communications strategies to promote the organization, engage with the community, and secure funding for affordable housing projects.

Kaleena has experience in both print and digital communications, long- and short-form copywriting, fundraising, grant research and writing, as well as marketing execution such as ad and email copy, social content, and more. She has lent her talents to both the corporate and nonprofit worlds in fields such as conservation, hospitality, housing, finance, youth and community, higher education, and cultural institutions.

While receiving her master's degree at Roosevelt University, an institution known for and grown from social justice initiatives, she developed a passion for advocacy and interest in education, equity, and access, particularly in high-need communities. She lives in Albuquerque with her partner, their two cats Ivy and Violet, and their chihuahua named Pickle.
